Anodising
Anodising is a electrochemical process wherby aluminum is dissolved into aluminum oxide
on the surface of the product.
The best known Types are :
Type 1: Chrome Acid Anodising
- layer 2-5µm
- layer :1/3 growth 2/3 penetration into the base material
- +336 hours of saltspray ASTM B117
- base for lackers or glue
Type 2: Sulfuric Acid Anodising / Colour Anodising
- layer 5-25µ
- layer : 1/3 growth 2/3 penetration into base material
- colourless layer , layer can be dyed with colours.
- +336 hours of saltspray ASTM B117
- electrical insulated layer
Type 3: Hard Anodising
- layer 10- 100µ
- layer : 50% growth 50% penetration into base material
- clour of layer depends of aluminum type and placed layer thickness
- +336 hours of saltspray ASTM B117
- electrical insulated layer
- hardness +400HV
- wear resistance
- heat resistance
- adhesion properties are superior
- Hard anodising will reduce fatigue strength considerably
